Stageopdracht: Webstorm Plugin voor translation-manager

Development stagiaires! (ENGLISH BELOW)

Jij bent er helemaal klaar voor, een fantastische stage bij Parantion! Waar jij als jonge professional je expertise en vaardigheden verder gaat ontwikkelen. En waar je meebouwt aan de ontwikkeling van onze applicaties, samen met je collega’s. Je leert werken met de nieuwste technieken die je toepast om onze applicaties nog beter te maken dan dat ze al zijn. Tijdens je stage werk je aan je eigen project dat je naar eigen inzicht uitvoert. Je werkt daarbij nauw samen met het Developmentteam en stemt ook zaken af met de teams Sales en Support voor een perfect verloop van de sprint. Een heel dynamische stage dus.

De opdracht 

Bij Parantion zijn wij niet alleen actief in Nederland maar zijn wij ook steeds meer te vinden over de landsgrenzen. De applicaties van Parantion worden dan ook in verschillende talen aangeboden waaronder in het Duits. Tijdens het ontwikkelen van de software kost het nu nog teveel tijd om de vertalingen hiervoor on-the–fly in te voegen.

Aan jou de taak om onze developers geholpen door een Webstorm plugin te bouwen; Het is een plugin voor de IDE die ons begeleidt bij het aanmaken van een nieuwe translation(-tag). Een aantal functies die wij graag zouden zien zijn:

hotkey of toetsen-combinatie om een popup naar voren te laten komen en die helpt met het aanmaken van de translation-tag;
een koppeling met google-translate, waarbij ook suggesties worden gedaan;
Het automatisch uploaden van de translation naar onze Directus-service.

Stages bij Parantion

Je doet je stage binnen een organisatie waar veel gebeurt. Samen met het team ontwikkel je, als je binnenkort bij ons je stage komt lopen, een fantastisch en interessante eindproduct. Dat komt omdat development bij Parantion wordt gedreven door innovatie. En je loopt stage bij een gedreven clubje in Deventer dat voor hele grote en belangrijke klanten werkt. Je doet dat met de nieuwste technieken, samen met een gedreven team collega’s, een eigen Scrum aanpak en je levert een belangrijke bijdrage aan onze webapplicaties. Misschien is nog wel het leukste dat je iedere middag met z’n allen aan de lunchtafel zit.

Hoe jouw dag eruitziet (zonder corona maatregelen)

’s Morgens, als iedereen binnen is, starten jullie met de dagelijkse stand up. Iedereen vertelt wat ze vandaag gaan doen en waar ze eventueel hulp bij nodig hebben. Daarna ga je aan de slag met je eigen project. Tussendoor overleg met een collega over een issue. Jullie bedenken samen wat het kan zijn en komen uiteindelijk tot de oplossing. In de middag heb je een gesprekje met Bas, je begeleider. Jullie bespreken tijdens een kopje koffie hoe het tot zo ver gaat en waar je hulp bij nodig hebt. Voor aankomende week staat het Developmentoverleg gepland. Meteen een goed moment om al even een korte presentatie te geven over wat je tot nu toe al hebt gedaan.

Vrijdagmiddag is het NERD-dag: een Never Ending Research and Development dag. Samen met je collega’s kijk je naar nieuwe technieken, bruikbaarheid en gekke tooltjes. Samen doen jullie inspiratie op voor nieuwe ideeën.

Iedere middag lunch je samen met je collega’s in de kantine. Lunch hoef je zelf niet mee te nemen, dat is allemaal al voor je geregeld. Op donderdag maken we zelf onze traditionele panini’s. En misschien maak je die zelf ook nog een keer. Vrijdag is de vette hapdag en wordt er aan het einde van de dag met iedereen geborreld. Biertje, wijntje, hapje. Veel gezelligheid, daar houden we van! Zeker na een week hard werken. Misschien organiseren we ook nog een gamenight met collega’s! Bestellen we ook meteen even pizza.

Development interns!

You’re all set for a fantastic internship at Parantion! Where you will further develop your expertise and skills as a young professional. And where you will contribute to the development of our applications, together with your colleagues. You will learn to work with the latest techniques, which you will apply to make our applications even better than they already are. During your internship, you will work on your own project, which you will carry out as you see fit. You will work closely with the Development team and coordinate with the Sales and Support teams to ensure a perfect sprint. A very dynamic internship therefore.

The assignment

At Parantion, we are not only active in the Netherlands, but we are also increasingly found across national borders. Parantion’s applications are therefore offered in several languages, including German. While developing the software, it currently takes too much time to insert the translations for this on-the-fly.

It is up to you to help our developers by building a Webstorm plugin; it is a plugin for the IDE that guides us when creating a new translation(-tag). Some features we would like to see are:

Hotkey or key combination to bring up a popup that helps create the translation tag;
A link to google-translate, also making suggestions;
Automatically uploading the translation to our Directus service.

Internships at Parantion

You do your internship in an organisation where a lot is happening. Together with the team, when you do your internship with us soon, you will develop a fantastic and interesting final product. That’s because development at Parantion is driven by innovation. And you will be doing your internship with a driven club in Deventer that works for very large and important clients. You do so using the latest techniques, together with a passionate team of colleagues, a proprietary Scrum approach and you make an important contribution to our web applications. Perhaps the best part is that every afternoon you’ll all be sitting around the lunch table together.

What your day looks like

In the morning, when everyone is in, you start with the daily stand-up. Everyone tells you what they are going to do today and what they might need help with. Then you get to work on your own project. In between, you consult with a colleague about an issue. You consider together what it could be and eventually come to the solution. In the afternoon, you have a chat with Bas, your supervisor. Over a cup of coffee, you discuss how things are going so far and where you need help. The Development meeting is planned for next week. A good time to give a short presentation on what you have done so far.

Wednesday is NERD day: a Never Ending Research and Development day. Together with your colleagues, you look at new techniques, usability and crazy tools. Together, you will gain inspiration for new ideas.

Every afternoon, you have lunch together with your colleagues. No need to bring your own lunch, it’s all arranged for you. Friday is greasy snacks day and at the end of the day everyone gathers for a drink. Beer, wine, snack. Lots of conviviality, we love that! Especially after a week of hard work. We might even organise a gaming night with colleagues! We’ll also order pizza right away.
